It has been confirmed that original actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.
Lawrence and Hutcherson are returning as Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the roles they originated. Industry whispers indicate their roles will probably be featured in a brief glimpse ahead, given that the original saga concluded with their characters living in peace.
This represents the sixth cinematic outing in the global Hunger Games franchise.
Sunrise on the Reaping draws its story from a newly published work by author Suzanne Collins. It serves as the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed most of the previous films in the series.
The film's narrative are set roughly two decades prior to the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, destined to become Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.
