The actor shared never-before-seen clips from the movie, adding that he could not remember "one day without mirth".

"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Values that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the perfect person to helm it," Elwes continued.

In a separate piece, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.

"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.

Scorsese highlighted Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the lead role.

"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked seamlessly with everyone, and he grasped the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese noted.
