'Living a Nightmare': Relatives of Unaccounted For Teens Desperately Seek Answers After Alpine Fire

Teenage Swiss teenager a young man from Switzerland is one of those unaccounted for.

The relatives of young people lost after a tragic inferno at a venue in a Switzerland's ski resort are facing an agonising period of uncertainty for official news and pleading for clues about their children via social media.

The inferno engulfed the Le Constellation bar in Cans-Montana, located in the mountains of the Valais region, in the early hours of the first day of the year. Verified images reveal the roof structure igniting as beverages with fireworks are raised in celebration.

Officials have indicated that it could take days if not weeks to identify the fatalities of the tragedy, which killed 40 people and injured another scores more. Officials noted on Friday that the majority of the those hurt have been accounted for, with the process continuing to identify the remaining few.

In the meantime, loved ones have been using the internet to plead for information about their loved ones who were at the bar that fateful night.

Desperate Searches for the Missing

The fate of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are not yet determined, according to an appeal from his parent.

The resident of Lutry near the city, explained to a local newspaper that she had returned to Lausanne to see if he was in the medical facility, while his father did the same in Bern, but could not find him.

"It feels like a terrible dream, an ordeal. The options are finding my son in the morgue, or I find him in intensive care. It's horrific," she told the paper.

She explained that some of his friends had been found with burns covering a significant portion of their bodies. "There are no words; they endured a terrifying ordeal."

The Italian foreign ministry has said that six of its young people have not been located.

Junior golfer Emanuele Galeppini, sixteen, was last in contact around midnight on December 31st, his father said.

Among them is Emanuele Galeppini, a 16-year-old junior golfer, who hailed from Genoa but now residing in Dubai.

The national sporting body has said that he is dead, without directly referencing the tragedy, honoring a "young athlete who embodied passion and true sportsmanship."

His parent, told media that his son was at the bar and was last heard from around the new year. An official spokesperson has stated that a formal confirmation of his death is still pending.

Other Missing Individuals

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is likewise unaccounted for. His mother said that he had been on holiday but had gone out with friends and ended up at the venue.

"A close friend told me they fled after the fire started and that he had his phone with him, but then at a certain point he lost sight of him," she explained, adding he had been wearing a distinctive gold chain.

One of his educators commented, "I've always been struck by his kindness and smile, coupled with great maturity. Often offer to get me a coffee."

Alice Kallergis, who holds both Swiss and Greek nationality but lives permanently in the country, was also present on that night, according to media.

Her brother has published an urgent request online, saying the family has had "no information" regarding the teenager or the group she was with, who are also unaccounted for.

Consular authorities from her other nation say they are actively engaged with the situation.
