The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, local government spokespeople confirmed on late Wednesday. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that took the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Joshua had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.
The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two trusted companions.”
The news of his discharge comes as the sports world shared its support for the champion in the wake of the terrible crash.
